As part of its effort to improve communications with village taxpayers, the Village of Caroline recently launched a monthly newsletter called “The Villager.” In it, Mike Haugen, the Village’s new CAO (Chief Administrative officer) introduced himself.
“I grew up in the Village of Kitscoty, which is not much bigger than Caroline,” he notes. “I then spent several years living in Edmonton while attending the University of Alberta where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Minor in Ancient and Medieval History) and a Certificate in Globalization and Governance. While earning my degree I worked in several different areas in student government (elected and administrative) and for a couple years was an administrator for the residence portion of the University’s discipline processes.”
He worked with the Town of Chestermere as part of the Municipal Affairs Internship Program which is a year-long training program for senior municipal administrators.
“It was from this program that I came to Clearwater County and Caroline. When not working, I can generally be found doing things like biking or playing rugby and soccer, although when it comes to sports I’ll play pretty much anything.”
Haugen will be at the Village office Wednesdays, Thursdays and every other Friday.
