New CAO Appointed
As of Tuesday, the Village of Caroline has a new Chief Administrative Officer.
Michael Haugen was officially appointed by Council following a request from contracted CAO Glenn Pitman.
The appointment signals the end of a process to find a new way to run the Village of Caroline which has experienced major difficulties in its governance over the last few years.
Michael Haugen, who has recently completed an internship program run by the Alberta Government, was hired by Clearwater County as a full time employee and will spend approximately one-half of his work time running the Village of Caroline. His services have been contracted by Clearwater County to the Village and are paid for by the Village.
As an appointed CAO under the Municipal Government Act, he reports to the Village Council and carries out its decisions.
