Important Dates for Host Organizations
The following dates are of importance to municipal organizations applying to host an intern for the 2012-14 Internship for Land Use Planners. All participating hosts are expected to follow this timeline.
Please Note: Alberta Municipal Affairs may change any or all of the dates listed below should it become necessary to do so.
| July 2011 |
All eligible municipalities and planning service agencies are invited to submit an application to host an intern. |
| September 9, 2011 |
A complete municipal internship program grant application is required no later than 4:00 p.m. Packages should be sent to Alberta Municipal Affairs. |
| October 2011 |
The ministry reviews all the applications received and selects the host organizations for the 2012-14 Internship Program. |
| December 2011 |
Host organizations selected and notified. |
| January 2012 |
Host organizations submit their completed customized Workplan and their signed conditional grant agreement to the ministry. |
| January 27, 2012 |
Deadline for individuals to submit their application to be an intern. |
| February 2012 |
The ministry forwards a shortlist of candidates to the host organizations. |
| February - March 2012 |
Host organizations conduct interviews and select an intern. The salary details and specific start date for the internship should be negotiated by the intern and host. |
| March 25, 2012 |
Host organizations should have selected an intern by this time. |
| April 2012 |
All supervisors will attend a one-day Orientation session hosted by Municipal Affairs. |
| May 2012 |
Internship placements are expected to begin. The specific start date should be arranged between the host organization and the intern. |
| June 2012 |
All interns attend a three-day Orientation session hosted by Municipal Affairs. |
| April 2014 |
Completion of internship. |
