Important Dates for Municipalities
The following dates are of importance to municipalities applying to host an intern for the 2010/11 administrator internship. All participating municipalities are expected to follow this timeline.
Please Note: Alberta Municipal Affairs may change any or all of the dates listed below should it become necessary to do so.
| June 2009 |
All eligible municipalities are invited to submit an application to host an intern. |
| September 4, 2009 |
A complete municipal internship program grant application is required no later than 4:00 p.m. Packages should be mailed to Alberta Municipal Affairs. |
| October 2009 |
The ministry reviews all the applications received and selects the host municipalities for the 2010/11 internship program. |
| November 2009 |
Host municipalities selected and notified. |
| December 2009 |
Host municipalities submit their completed customized Workplan and their signed conditional grant agreement to the ministry. |
| January 29, 2010 |
Deadline for individuals to submit their application to be an intern. |
| February 2010 |
The ministry forwards a shortlist of candidates to the host municipalities. |

February - March 2010 |
Host municipalities conduct interviews and select an intern. The salary details and specific start date for the internship should be negotiated by the intern and host. |
| March 29, 2010 |
Host municipalities must have selected an intern by this time. |
| April 2010 |
All supervisors will attend a one-day orientation session hosted by Municipal Affairs. |
| May 2010 |
Internship placements are expected to begin. The specific start date should be arranged between the host municipality and the intern. |
| June 2010 |
All interns attend a three-day orientation session hosted by Municipal Affairs. |
| April 2011 |
Completion of internship. |
