Welcome!

The Municipal Internship Program is coordinated by the ministry of Municipal Affairs, which works in partnership with Alberta municipalities and planning service agencies to offer recent post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain first-hand, real-life experience as a first step towards a career in municipal government.
The Internship Program helps municipalities and planning service agencies recruit and train capable, well-rounded leaders who can progress into senior municipal administration and planning positions in the province. Municipal Affairs provides financial assistance to municipalities and planning service agencies willing to make the commitment of time and resources necessary to host and train an intern for a one or two year period. Interns receive a salary, mentorship, and support to pursue learning and development opportunities in a municipal setting.
