Nonprofit/Voluntary Sector Initiative
The Alberta Nonprofit/Voluntary Sector Initiative (ANVSI) is underway and its purpose is to bring together representatives from the Government of Alberta and the nonprofit/voluntary sector in Alberta in order to strengthen the relationship between the two sectors. The objective of this work is to ensure a strong and sustainable voluntary sector that has the ability to provide the services and supports that Albertans expect to be part of their communities.
A group of nonprofit/voluntary sector leaders and representatives from key government departments, known as the Leaders Council, has met on regular basis with the first task being the establishment of a written rationale for a Framework Agreement between the Government of Alberta and Alberta’s nonprofit/voluntary sector.
The aim is for both sectors to develop a better understanding of each other and to work towards common solutions. The outcome of the process is an agreement that would define the principles and process for engagement guiding how the government and the sector will work together to address issues of public policy and regulation, funding, human resources and operational issues that affect the voluntary sector in Alberta.
